A Walk to Beautiful

This is a movie that we recently watched about a problem that so many African women suffer from. Women that have this problem are shunned from their families and villages. It's very sad but there is a hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia that is helping these women.....but first they have to hear about it and then they have to make the incredible journey to get there. Just a quick update.....I ran across a website that I have never heard of before.  It's actually a TV show called Facing Life Head-On.  They have many episodes on different  pro-life topics but this episode has to do with adopting HIV children.  Click on the title of this post and check it out!

Heregewoin Teferra

Have you ever heard of the book "There is No Me Without You" written by Melissa Fay Greene? Here is a review of the book:

This book is a must read for anyone wanting to learn more about the orphans of Ethiopia and especially for those who are thinking of adopting or are in the adoption process of a child from any African country.

The sad news is that the lady that Melissa wrote about in this book, Heregewoin Teferra, passed away yesterday. Angels in the Dust

We watched this today. I highly recommend it. Here is an explanation of what the movie is about:

"Angels in the Dust" is a documentary film by filmmaker Louise Hogarth. An inspiring story about Marion Cloete, a university-trained therapist whose self-sacrificial courage motivates change and hope. In a nation plagued by the HIV/AIDS epidemic, orphans, rape, and violence, Marion abandons a life of privilege in Johannesburg to build Botshabelo, a village and school that provides orphaned children with shelter, food and education. The stories of the orphaned children are paralleled with the orphaned elephants of Pilanesberg National Park in South Africa. In this poignant film, Marion attempts a similar strategy by re-parenting the orphaned children.
