We are very excited to announce that...
We are now #6 on the waiting list!!!
The last two weeks have been incredible with the amount of referrals that have gone out!
We have been waiting so long to see the list start moving again...and now it is. Our agency changed the way they process the children's paperwork. They now wait until all the needed information and paperwork is in a child's file before they refer them to a family. This makes the wait--hopefully--shorter after a family sees their child's picture and accepts the referral. No more waiting forever for a missing piece of paper so you can pass court, and issues similar to that. But between our agency instilling that policy and also there being a shortage of HIV/Hep B testing serum lately, the referrals have been few and far between....up until the last couple of weeks! It has been so exciting to see so many families finally get to experience that long awaited phone call and then to see the little face that will soon become a new member of their family!
At this point we still have no idea how soon it will be before we will get the call from our agency announcing that they have a referral for us, but we are guessing that it will be within the next month or two. If this is an accurate guess than we are assuming that we will most likely be traveling to Ethiopia at the end of the summer to go meet Amayah and bring her home!
I was so excited to find out this news....but I also have to admit it freaked me out a bit! My brain was racing at 100 mph thinking about everything I wanted to get done before we get our referral and also before we travel to Ethiopia! Some things were logical, like remembering that I wanted to make Amayah and Chloe matching quilts, and some things weren't so logical like wanting to get two bathrooms and the boys bedroom AND the whole entire basement painted.....and so on. Yipes! I do need to get some sleep, so I have started to make a list that prioritizes each thing my brain tells me that "needs" to be done. =) At least this way, the most important things will hopefully be done before we travel and the lesser things....well....will just have to wait. For now, my biggest priority is getting more organized. First on the list is getting all of my adoption info organized and in binders. Then it's on to things pertaining to running our household....daily activities and meals especially. Um, so yeah, guess I better get off here and start gettin 'er done!!
Many blessings,
Wendy
